Recognition of Prior Learning

RPL – Turning Experience into Credit

Formal acknowledgment of your existing governance competencies – accelerating your path to membership.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal process that assesses your existing knowledge and skills – gained through work experience, non‑formal training, or self‑study – and grants exemptions from certain CIPAG certification modules or reduces the time required to achieve membership tiers.

This pathway is ideal for mid‑career public servants who have never earned formal degrees but possess deep practical expertise, or for professionals who have completed accredited training from other governance bodies and wish to fast‑track their CIPAG recognition.

What Can Be Recognised?

  • In‑service training from national civil service colleges.
  • Certifications from recognized bodies (e.g., UN, World Bank, OECD, national governance institutes).
  • Senior executive leadership programs (military, diplomatic, or ministerial academies).
  • Published research, policy papers, or legislative drafting experience.
